Freelance Trumpet Player & Private Lesson Instructor
Rochelle Sloan was born in Houston, Texas and has been a lifelong lover of art. She has been dancing as soon as she could walk and has been playing trumpet as soon as she could hold one up in her arms. She attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas and was a part of the Meadows Wind Ensemble, Meadows Symphony Orchestra, Meadows Jazz Orchestra,
and Southern Methodist University Marching Band.
She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music and obtained her Texas EC-12 Teacher Certification. Since then, she has been a Texas-based freelance trumpet player, as well as a private lesson instructor/clinician for Fort Bend ISD and Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. She has performed and recorded with a vast number of artists in a wide variety of genres that have helped her to grow into the well-rounded musician that she is today.
The majority of gigs that Rochelle currently takes on are high-energy pop, rock, and dance music performances and recording sessions. She can entertain creatively as a soloist with backing tracks and also has a band for events and festivals as well as a horn section available for hire. Some career highlights include receiving an award for "Exceptional Musicianship in Houston, TX" from Broadcast Houston and winning The Annual Comp-U-Dopt Oktoberfest Talent Show with an original composition.
Her recent honors have been opening up for Los Kumbia Kings on an international tour and being continuously hired by some of the top private event bands. Her most recent adventure was a two week tour across Japan playing dynamic rock shows. Her professional affiliations include: American Federation of Musicians, Texas Music Educators Association,
and Houston Professional Musicians Association.
